Obituary

MARVIN C. CECIL, 67, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, February 24, 2009 at his home.

Born on July 3, 1941 in McNeil, Arkansas, he was the son of Robert Earl and Lena Irene (Grantham) Cecil. He was raised and received his education in Texas and graduated from Sadler High School in 1959. Following graduation, Marvin began working at a furniture store where he was employed through the mid 1970's. He then began working for Gibson Trucking and later Meade Trucking in Wichita Falls.

He was united in marriage to Estelle Mayo on July 15, 1960 in Whitesboro, Texas. The couple later divorced.

In the mid 1980's, Marvin moved to Oklahoma where he was a handyman and later became a bondsman. Marvin married Pearlie Ele on July 4, 1980 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They later divorced. After retiring in 2001 he moved to Blackwell. In 2006 he moved to Winfield to be closer to family.

His hobbies included his family and he loved watching television, especially westerns and cooking shows. He also enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey.

His daughters: Tisha Luna and husband Roy Dewayne of Winfield, KS; and Dawn G. Cook-Reid and husband Frank of Wichita, KS;
His father: Robert and his wife Colleen of Corsicana, TX;
His brother: Charles M. Cecil and wife Debi of Whitney, TX;
His sister: Annie Lanelle Canter and husband Claude of Plant City, FLA;
His grandchildren: Holly, Jamie, Anthony, Brittany, Tamantha, Rebecca, Odessa and Frank Allen; and
His great-grandchildren: Abel and Zaiden.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena; and his son, Thomas E. Cecil.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 2, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Marvin's name for the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
