Obituary

Martin F. "Marty" Davis, Jr., 81, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024 at Winfield Senior Living.

Marty was born May 23, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was the son of Martin Davis, Sr. and Anna "Joan" (McGann) Davis.  He was raised and received his education in Winfield, attending Holy Name Catholic School and Winfield High School.  Following school, Marty worked for Drennan's and then was a welder for Smith & Moon.

He was united in marriage to Gloria Kelly on September 25, 1965, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield.  The couple made their home in Winfield and Marty began working for Cessna until 1968 when the National Guard was called.  Marty and Gloria were stationed in Colorado Springs for two years and returned to Winfield.  Marty then worked for GE for a few years before beginning his career with Fluid Kinetics in 1973.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.  He enjoyed trapping, coyote hunting, fishing, riding the dune buggy, and woodworking.  He especially enjoyed collecting guns and being a member of the NRA.

His family includes his wife Gloria of Winfield; his children, Jeff Davis of Winfield; Jeanne Davis-Trefethen and husband, Denis of Burden; Jamie Harrod and husband, Todd of Winfield; his sister Martha Davis of Winfield; grandchildren, Kristen, Jonathan, Trystan, and Amanda; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and a nephew.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will hold private graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.  Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Marty's name for the American Heart Association and for the Winfield Food Pantry.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
