Martha Jean Roach Robinson, 97, longtime Winfield resident, passed away Friday morning, December 24, 2010 at Cumbernauld Village.
She was born on January 04, 1913, in Joplin, Missouri, to Cleo Thornton and Arthur Roach and moved to Winfield with her parents in 1919 when she was six years old. She was a 1930 graduate of Winfield High School and attended Southwestern College in Winfield.
Martha was united in marriage to Charles D. Robinson in Winfield in 1935. Mrs. Robinson lived most of her life in Winfield, with the exception of the 15 years that the family lived in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Their home was destroyed in the Blackwell-Udall tornado in 1955, and they returned to Winfield four years later. Mr. Robinson was associated with the Jarvis Auto Supply stores in Winfield and Blackwell and was manager of K.O. Warehouse in Winfield for many years. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Sorosis Study Club, and Chapter FD of P.E.O.

Her grandchildren: Michael Burr and wife, Jan of Hinsdale, IL; Kathleen Burr of Addison, TX; Thad Burr of Oklahoma City, OK; and
Her great grandchildren: Haley Burr, Riley Burr, and Charlie Burr all of Hinsdale, IL.
In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by: a sister, Betty Logsdon; a brother, James T. Roach; and son-in-law, David A. Burr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday January 03, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Robinson's name for the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield and for William Newton Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
