MARTHA 'MARTIE' JUNE KING, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away
Monday evening, September 5, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Born on June 19, 1925 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Robert Ellis and Bessie (Welch) Hudson. She was raised and received her education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1943. She later attended the University of Kansas for one year and Southwestern College for one year.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Edwin King on June 23, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. Martha was a homemaker most of her life and worked at Security National Bank in Norman, Oklahoma for six years while her husband attended the University of Oklahoma. Mr. King preceded her in death on September 9, 1996.

Martha was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady, was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Chapter CU of PED Sisterhood.

Her son: Craig King of Winfield, KS;
Her grandson: Chris King and wife Ashley and their son, Cooper of Pflugerville, TX;
Her granddaughter: Jenna King L'Hommedieu and husband Travis of Augusta, KS.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Helen Welch.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 9, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

Memorials have been established in Martha's name for Permanent Endowment Fund at the First United Methodist Church and William Newton Hospital Health Care Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
