Obituary

Martha Ann "Shea" Chattam, 88, of Inman, Kansas, previously Hutchinson, passed away August 22, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman.

Born November 17, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Earl F. and Esther "Gill" Shea. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1948.

She was united in marriage to Bobbie Eugene Chattam in Winfield on October 21, 1950.  Martha was a girl scout leader in 1962 in Winfield.  The couple moved to Hutchinson in 1963 where Martha worked for the Hutchinson Recreation Commission in 1969.  In 1973, she worked as an Office Manager and Personnel for Alco #99 Store.  Martha belonged to the Faircrest Neighborhood Watch.  She became a published poet and sold Book I and Book II at Crossroads Book Store in Hutchinson.  Mr. Chattam preceded her in death on May 16, 1994.

Her family includes her son Daymond W. Chattam of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Deatra K. Renner and husband, Bob of Hutchinson; Delese A. Runyan and husband; Virgil of Hutchinson; and her 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by an infant grandson Josh Tate Chattam and her sister B.J. Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Martha's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
