Marla Kaye Burroughs, 69, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, November 11, 2022, at her home.
Born June 10, 1953, in Wellington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Herbert and Evelyn (Wegand) Landes. She was raised and received her education in Wellington, graduating from Wellington High School in 1971. After school, Marla moved to Wichita and worked various jobs.
She was united in marriage to Charles "Charlie" Burroughs on August 9, 1991, in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Wichita where Marla made her career at Cessna Aircraft. She remained at Cessna until retiring in 2010 as the Scheduler for the parts department. She enjoyed nature, wildlife, decorating, and traveling. She and Charlie visited many places including California, Canada, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Glacier National Park. She loved being a grandma and great grandma and loved her baby (her dog) Rambo.
Her family includes her husband Charlie of Winfield; her step-son Nick Burroughs and wife, Mitzi of Wichita; her step-daughter Sherri Cleaveland and husband, Perry of Wichita; her brother Scott Landes and wife, Elana of Medford, OR; her sister Carol Walker of San Angelo, TX; her grandchildren, Tyler Burroughs, Cale Burroughs, Paige Jordan, Trey Cleaveland, Cory Cleaveland; her great grandchildren, Camden Cole Saavedra Burroughs, Aria Aleen Renea Burroughs, Bennett Ray Dean Burroughs, Jaxon Nicholas Jordan, Michael Allen Cleaveland.
In addition to her parents, Marla was preceded in death by three brothers, Byron Landes, Gary Landes, and Larry Landes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family interment will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington. A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet from 4 to 7 that evening.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Marla's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
