Mark Sharpsteen, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday night, June 23, 2022, at Winfield Resthaven.

Born November 10, 1956, in Wellington, Kansas, Mark was the son of Donald Lee and Mary Louise (Miller) Sharpsteen. He was raised and received his education in Wellington. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge.

He was united in marriage to Mary Helen (Baker) McPherson on April 22, 2005, in Grenola. The couple made their home in Winfield. Mary preceded him in death on December 8, 2011. Mark attended Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and golfing.

His family includes his sister Michelle (Mike) York of Clearwater; his brothers, Michael (Linda) Sharpsteen of Dodge City; and Don (Becky) Sharpsteen of Wellington; and his nieces and nephew, Vance, Kristy, and Shelly.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The family will hold graveside memorial services on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Mark's name for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
