MARK A. ROBINSON, 65, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 28, 2012 at Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita.
Born on August 5, 1947 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Albert and Ruth (Johnson) Robinson. He was raised and received his education in Sedan, Kansas and graduated from Sedan High School in 1965.
Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. He was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado and later served in Germany and Vietnam as a Specialist. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the Sedan area.
He was united in marriage to Joan VonCannon in 1970 in Sedan where he worked in the oilfields and farmed. The couple divorced in 1977. He was employed at Anstine Oil in Arkansas City, Kansas.
In 1993, he met his longtime companion, Thelma Wood. The couple made their home in Dexter for many years. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2012.
Mark loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

His children: Brandy Wolken and husband Chip of Erie, KS; Brian Robinson and wife Heidi of Independence, KS; Mickey Dierks and husband Jason of Latham, KS; and Jake Wood of Abilene, TX;
His sisters: Joan Markowitz and husband John of Olpe, KS: and Jean Dunkin and husband Greg of Sioux City, IA;
His grandchildren: Tristan Wolken, Whitney Wolken, Sage Dierks and Luke Dierks; and
Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, Beverly Robinson, and his companion, Thelma Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, September 3, 2012. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in Mark's name be made to the Mark Robinson Memorial Fund to benefit Hoyt Overby in Dexter. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
