Mark B. Kent, 58, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, March 3, 2021 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
Born June 20, 1962 in Winfield, he was the son of Gene R. and Mary C. (Vaughn) Kent. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. Following school, he began working for the City of Winfield in the Street Department.
Mark was united in marriage to Lesa M. Wilson on January 31, 1986 in Arkansas City, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield until 2004 when they moved to rural Burden. Mark continued working for the city for over 35 years, retiring in 2014. After retirement, he worked grading township roads and for Morton Farms. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, fishing, camping, boating, riding his Harley, music, and having fun with friends and family.
His family includes his wife Lesa Kent of Burden; his children, Jesse and Cassy Kent of Mulvane; Amy and Scott Herron of Kellyville, OK; his siblings, Linda and Paul Potter of Winfield; Steve and Therese Kent of Lee's Summit, MO; Margaret Kent of Winfield; Joe Kent of Winfield; Susan and Eric Zanardi of Arkansas City; Libby and Luís Cantu of Winfield; Tricia Kent of Winfield; his father-in-law Jerry Wilson of Atlanta; his mother-in-law Hazel Braungardt of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Ammure Kent, Owen Kent, Addie Herron, Brody Herron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by three siblings, Thomas Kent, Kathy Kent, and Greg Kent, and his step-mother-in-law Carolyn Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
A memorial has been established in Mark's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
