Obituary

Marjorie M. Sellers, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Winfield Senior Living Center.

Born December 31, 1922, at her grandparents' home in New Salem, she was the daughter of Albert Earl and Viola Mae (Miller) Benjamin. She was raised and received her education in the Tisdale and Winfield areas and graduated from Winfield High School in 1940.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" Sellers on March 27, 1942, in Perry, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Winfield. Marjorie began her career at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, first as a direct care person and then trained for the Pharmacy and later a Physical Therapy position. She received her Mental Health Technician License in 1974 and her Physical Therapy License in 1979. She retired in May 1987.

Marjorie and Gene bought the Sellers farmstead in 1964. Gene preceded her in death on April 20, 2013. Mrs. Sellers was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church as well as Methodist Women. She held offices in the A.D.V. of Kansas (Guardianship), was a member of the Republic Women's Association, and the Kansas and Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Association. She enjoyed gardening, reading, doll collecting, bird watching, traveling, and all things nature.

Marjorie's family includes her daughters, Catherine Lee McNutt and husband, Kenneth of Winfield; Debra Kay Butters and husband, John of Winfield; her grandchildren, Kenny McNutt and wife, Traci, Steven McNutt and wife, Sherri, Greg McNutt and wife, Marnie, Mitchell Meier and wife, Rosann, Matthew Meier and wife, Heather, Sam Butters and wife, Stephanie, Terri Mayo and husband, Randy, Connie Hersh, Jami Runyan; her 25 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by a son David Eugene Sellers, her brothers, Kenneth and Albert Benjamin, and her sister Dorothy Underwood-Hall.

Private graveside funeral services will be held at Tisdale Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Marjorie's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
