Ruggles

Marjorie Lee Ruggles, 89, previously of Atlanta and Wichita, Kansas, passed away early Sunday morning, September 5, 2021, at Evergreen Health and Rehab in Bryant, Arkansas.
Born July 4, 1932, in Atlanta, Kansas, she was the daughter of Harry Evan and Helen Louise (Pierce) Martin. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1952. Marjorie attended Wichita State University for a short time.
She was united in marriage to James Maurice Ruggles on June 19, 1954, in Wichita. The couple made their home in Park City. Marjorie worked various jobs including the Boy Scout Office, manager of Nelly Don Fabrics, and department manager at T.G. & Y. She made her lifelong career being a homemaker. James preceded her in death on December 11, 2006.
She was a member of the Wichita Bible Church and was an active volunteer with the Extension Homemakers Unit for the County Extension Office as a member, leader, and instructor. She was also involved with Girl Scout and Cub Scout programs, in which her children were member. She and James spent the winters in the Rio Grande Valley area beginning 1991 and continued for 15 years. Marjorie enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, and gardening.
Her family includes her children, Rebecca (Ruben) Santiago of Little Rock, AR; Randal (Heidi) Ruggles of Katy, TX; her sister Judy (Wayman) Patterson of Broken Arrow, OK; her sister-in-law Leora Bland of Winfield; her grandchildren, Christopher "CJ" (Emily) Santiago, Daniel (Leah) Ruggles, and Emily Ruggles; and a great grandson Brayson Santiago; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by a sister Martha (Tom) Remy, and a brother Max Martin.
A visitation will be held at Miles Funeral Service on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 9 to 10:30 A.M. Graveside services will follow at Rose Valley Cemetery at 11:00 A.M.
A memorial has been established in Marjorie's name for the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Dementia and Long-Term Care in the College of Medicine's Department of Geriatrics. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
The family would like to especially thank Kindred Hospice in Hot Springs, AR for all of their care during this time.
