MARJORIE "MARGIE" JOANNE GROTH, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Born on January 30, 1933 in Merrill, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Walter A. and Martha B. (Uttecht) Schultz. She was united in marriage to Edward R. Groth on March 8. 1952 in Pine River, Wisconsin. The couple lived throughout the United States during Master Sergeant Groth's 28 year military in the United States Army. Margie worked for Civil Service until retiring in 1988. In addition, the couple owned and operated the Longhorn Auto Supply and Machine in Fountain, Colorado until moving to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in 1994. Ed preceded her in death in 2005. Margie moved to Winfield in 2008.

She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Truth or Consequences. She loved and enjoyed family, friends, music and animals. She sang in the choir, played the harp, and was an organist at several of her churches. Animals, especially dogs, held a very special place in her heart and were treated as family members.

Her sons: Robert W. Groth and wife Linda of Winfield, KS; and Thomas E. Groth and wife Becky of Burbank, CA;
Her grandchildren: Elyse Boyer and husband Dustin of Fountain, CO; and Emilia Groth of Burbank, CA; and
Her great-granddaughter: Madison Boyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial celebration will be held at a future date.
