MARION MAY, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home.

Born on December 31, 1937 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Glenn and Golden (Ireland) May. He was raised and received his education in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1955. Marion later attended a drafting school in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mr. May proudly served his country in the United States Army as a combat engineer. Following his honorable discharge in 1959, he returned to Winfield and went to work for the Kansas Department of Transportation where he was an engineer for 35 years.

He was united in marriage on December 9, 1968 to Marcia Metz in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. Marion enjoyed spending time with children, fishing, hunting, reading, woodworking and western movies.

His family includes:

His sister: Joan Miller and husband Cushman of Derby, KS;
His sister-in-law: Carmen Porter of Winfield, KS;
His nieces: Michelle Parsons, Jennifer Hecht, Chadd May, Joshua Miller, Kevin Miller, Andy Miller, Lisa Kreie, Dana Cahoon and Jonita Smith; and
His 6 great nieces and 12 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. A private interment has been held at Highland Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in Marion's name for the American Diabetes Association and International Gideon Bible Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
