Obituary

Marilyn Eileen (Smith) Watt passed away Friday morning, February 17, 2023, at her home in Cambridge, Kansas.

She was born on April 5, 1936, at the home of her parents, Roy D. and Grace (Manly) Smith.  She graduated from Burden High School in 1954.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Randall C. Watt on December 12, 1954.  To this union two children were born, Randall Neil and Susan Marlene.

She began working at the Henderson Drugstore in Burden during her sophomore year in high school, remaining there until its closure in 1984.  In 1987, she began work at Graves Drugstore in Winfield, where she remained until her retirement in December 2017, at the age of 81.

Marilyn was a long-time member of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church.  She acquired numerous friends over the years.  She had a passion for cooking and baking, which was enjoyed by family, harvest crews, co-workers, and friends.  She also loved basketball and the KU Jayhawks.

She is survived by son Neil Watt (Cheryl) of Cambridge; daughter Susan Topper (Steve) of Winfield; grandchildren, Jared of Cambridge; Kelly (Jake) of Latham; Kelsey (Sam) of Wichita; Emily of Winfield; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Josie, Weston, and Jordie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Marjorie.

Cremation has taken place.  Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established in Marilyn's name for Good Shepherd Hospice and Cambridge Presbyterian Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
