Obituary

Marilyn D. Calvin, 76, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, March 21, 2011 at her home.

Born October 23, 1934 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Milburn Dale and Ethel Mildred (Wilson) Harris. She was raised and received her education in Burden, graduating from Burden High School in 1952.

Marilyn was a lifetime resident of Cowley County, spending most of her adult life in the Winfield community. She worked for several companies in Winfield including, Winfield Laundry, Gott, William Newton Hospital, and Good Samaritan Village. She was most proud of the job she did as a mother and grandmother.

She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and going to craft fairs and yard sales. She was known for her sense of humor, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her brothers: Milton Harris of New Castle, CO; Steve Harris and wife, Tricia of Wellington;
Her sister: Yvonne Heuszel and husband, Don of Cornelia, GA;
Her grandchildren: Freedom Brass and husband, Ben; Amy Watson and husband, Mitch; Beth Mugler and husband, Shawn; Vickie Howell and husband, Doug; Shane Simpson and wife, Donna; Danny Jay Phillips; Joshawha Phillips; Nicholus Phillips and wife, Krystal; Tyson Long; Jesse Long; Misty Wilson; Melissa Bryant; Melinda Wilson; Mike Alvarez and wife, Debbie; Joe Alvarez and wife, Crystal; Tony Alvarez; Kevin Mattenson; Greg Mattenson; David Phillips; Chris Phillips; Kandace Phillips; Zachary Phillips; Levi Jackson and wife, Charity; Brandon Jackson; Kristen Davis;

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Calvin's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
