MARIE ELIZABETH COX, 77, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, August 1, 2010 at Harry Hynes Hospice/Via Christ St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
Born on July 5, 1933 in Viola, Kansas she was the daughter of Paul and Hilda Rose (Rausch) Melcher. She was raised and received her education in Mulvane, Kansas.
She was united in marriage on August 29, 1951 to Lloyd S. Cox in Mulvane, Kansas where the couple made their first home. They lived in Wichita a few years before moving to Udall in 1957 where they have made their home. Marie was a fulltime homemaker.
Her hobbies included all kinds of handiwork including crocheting, quilting, sewing, cross-stitch and embroidery. Marie also enjoyed making plastic craft, collecting Barbie dolls and jewelry.

Her daughter: Rose Marie Haskins and husband James of Iola, KS;
Her brothers: Ben Melcher and wife Dorothy of Mulvane, KS; Alex G. Melcher and wife UnaVey of Udall, KS;
Her sister: Pauline Williams of Wichita, KS;
Her grandchildren: Lloyd Cox, Kristan Cox, Victor Haskins, and Vincent Haskins; and
Her great-grandchildren: Jessica, Taryn, Cody and Barrett Cox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry and Lawrence Melcher, and her sister, Bernita Cole.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Udall Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on August 4, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends during that time.
Memorials have been established in Marie's name for the Udall First Responders and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
