Marguerite E. Kingsbury, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, October 6, 2023, at Cumbernauld Village.
Born April 12, 1935, in Cedar Vale, Kansas, she was the daughter of Claude and Isabelle (Wood) Littrell. She was raised and received her education in Cedar Vale, graduating from Cedar Vale High School in 1953. While going to school, Marguerite worked at the dry cleaners in Cedar Vale doing alterations. She was a self-taught seamstress.
She was united in marriage to Clark Kingsbury on May 4, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Vale. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale until moving to Great Bend, Kansas in July of 1968. While in Great Bend, Marguerite worked as a bookkeeper at the Mill and the Presbyterian Church. In 1979, she became an Office Administrator for Great Bend School District USD 428. She remained with the school district for over 17 years, retiring in 1996. After retiring, Marguerite worked in the office for the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce until moving with Clark to Winfield in July of 2000.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Red Hat Society. She was a baker and was known for "Grandma's famous chocolate chunk cookies". She enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards, dominoes, and golf. She also enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips, going on cruises, and her trips to England. Marguerite loved being a seamstress, sewing clothing for her family.
Her family includes her husband Clark of Winfield; her daughter Ginger Randolph and husband, Gary of Winfield; her sons, Blaine Kingsbury and wife, Cathy of Hutchinson; Dwaine Kingsbury and wife, Julie of Louisburg; her sister Louise Goode and husband, Jim of Sedan; her grandchildren, Laura Randolph, Emily Randolph, Justin Kingsbury and wife, Kim, Breanna Kingsbury, Cassandra Willson and husband, Matt, Connor Kingsbury, Hannah Kingsbury, Isabelle Kingsbury; and her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Aubrey, and Ethan.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Raymond Littrell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Marguerite's name for Helping Hands through First United Methodist Church and for Cumbernauld Village to help renovate the beauty shop. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
