Margaret Ann
Trent
October 27, 1933 – August 11, 2022
Margaret Ann (Dempsey) Trent, 88, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, August 11, 2022. While she is no longer here with us, we celebrate the life she lived, the love she gave and the legacy she created.
She was born on October, 27th, 1933; the fourth of six children born to William Jennings and Zola Dempsey.
She was raised and educated in Arkansas City, attending various elementary schools, Arkansas City Junior High and graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1951.
She went on to attend and graduate from JUCO (Cowley County Junior College) in 1953. It was while she was there that she began dating her forever love, Lloyd.
On June 6th, 1954 she married Harol "Lloyd" Trent.
They settled in their hometown and started a family.
Over the years, Margaret worked in various places including, Anderson-Guyot and Dumenil Inc, Mauer-Newer Packing Plant, Braums, and for many years she was a substitute teacher within USD 470. When she wasn't actively employed, she made homemaking her top priority. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she attended for many years. In her later years of retirement, she enjoyed "ride abouts", spending time with family and friends over coffee or good food. She was a familiar face in downtown Ark City, always offering a smile or a conversation to those she saw. Her favorite thing was to serve others with a kind smile, bright eyes, and a delicious meal or dessert!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older siblings: Neila Ziegler, Jack Dempsey and Beryl Dempsey, her son-in-law, Roger "Biff" Chase, and great grandson, Spencer Chase.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Lloyd, of the home. Three children, Shelby Trent Pappan Chase [Rick Eastman], David Trent [Traci] all of Arkansas City, and Dirk Trent [Jennifer] of Austin, TX, and two sisters, Carolyn Osborn [Phillip] of Arkansas City and Kenna Speck [Ron] of Mansfield, TX. Her legacy includes 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Hope Cemetery west of Arkansas City under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. A visitation is scheduled at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors at that time.
