Margaret L. Piel, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, November 23, 2020 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.

Born March 23, 1933 in Waubay, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Harry and Dena (Rave) Heeren. She was raised and received her education in Waubay where she graduated high school.

Margaret was united in marriage to Stanley F. Piel on October 9, 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The couple made their first home in Lancaster, California where their three children were born. In 1962, the family moved to Winfield. Margaret was active in the Winfield community, volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America, the Cowley County Historical Society, and many other clubs and organizations. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She took great pride in her home and found happiness caring for her family. Her kind heart extended beyond, to the many individuals who were fortunate to meet her.

Her family includes her children, Linda Snyder and husband, Howard Errol of Cedar Vale; Cynthia Radcliff and husband, Byron of Steamboat Springs, CO; Steven Piel and Linda Besler of Evergreen, CO; her grandchildren, Brianna Avers of Cedar Vale; Samuel Piel and wife, Kayla of San Tan Valley, AZ; Byron Radcliff of Eagle, CO; and her great grandchildren, Violet and Jubilee Avers, and Aubrey, Knox, and Maddox Piel.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriett Easterling and Lucille Stoll.

Private family services will be held at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon, November 29, 2020 from 2 to 6 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Margaret's name for the Cowley County Historical Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
