MARGARET E. (HOLDEN) RICE, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, November 28, 2008. She joined loved ones that had gone on before including, her husband, John L. Rice; her son, Eugene Rice, and grandson, David Rice.
Born on February 3, 1918 in Waverly, Kansas ,she was the daughter of William E. and Della (Hardesty) Holden. She was raised and received her education in Waverly.
She was united in marriage in 1936 to John L. Rice. The couple made their first home in Ottawa, Kansas. Margaret was a fulltime homemaker as well as was employed outside the home while raising their family. The couple owned a taxi business in Ottawa and also leased a business, Dairy Cream, as well as worked there. They later spent many happy years in Elk City, Kansas. She worked in manufacturing, nursing homes and restaurants. The couple spent a short time in Caney, Kansas, before John passed away in 1995. Margaret moved to Winfield in 2005.
Margaret enjoyed reading and Bible studies.

Her grandson: Mark Anderson and wife Kelly of Wichita, KS;
Her daughter-in-law: Janet Rice of Bartlesville, OK;
Her granddaughter: Amy Rice of Bartlesville, OK; and
Her great-grandchildren: Kira and Raven Anderson of Wichita, KS.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Rice; her grandson, David Rice; her brothers, Harold, Earl, and Francis; and her sisters, Lucretta and Addene.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Elk City Cemetery in Elk City Kansas.
