Obituary

Mantha J. Beck, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, February 15, 2020 at Medicalodges in Oxford.

Born May 1, 1944 in Yale, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Amos and Ila (Blythe) Harmon. She was raised and received her education in Cushing, Oklahoma, graduating from Cushing High School in 1963. While in high school, Mantha worked at the Snackette.

She married Thomas Rutherford in 1964. To this union, a son was born. The couple later divorced. She was united in marriage to Ervin Beck in 1967. The couple made their first home in Cushing, and also lived in Ponca City. To this union, a daughter was born. The couple later divorced.

Mantha worked as a waitress at several cafes in Cushing and Ponca City. She also worked at Miller Market in Ponca City. She retired from waitressing in 2005.

She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma where she was a member of the choir. She volunteered with a missionary program in the church, ministering in local jails. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to garage sales, and butterflies.

Her family includes her son Thomas Beck of Winfield; her daughter Dayna Beck of Toivola, MI; her brothers, Norman Harmon of Tulsa, OK; Kenneth Harmon and wife, Shirlene of Cushing, OK; and her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mantha was preceded in death by two sisters, Laverne and Ruby, and two brothers, Wendell and Clyde.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Mantha's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
