Maloy D. Rollins, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, November 30, 2018 at his home.
Born October 14, 1945 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Freelin "Curly" and Bonnie (McMonigle) Rollins. He was raised and received his education in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1963. After high school, Maloy joined the United States Army Reserve and attended college at Oklahoma State University.
He was united in marriage to Gayle Beach on November 11, 1966 in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Wichita where Maloy began working for Boeing. Maloy continued working at Boeing for a short time after moving to Arkansas City. He later started his career with BNSF Railroad. He continued with the railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photography. In his later years, he made a profession of faith in Christ.
His family includes his wife Gayle of Winfield; his daughters, René Smith and husband, Randy of Dexter; Christine Thomson and husband, Brett of Winfield; his son Lance Rollins of Kansas City, MO; his sister Iris McMonigle of Newnan, GA; his grandchildren, Kelsey Marker, Ashley Marker, Cadie Thomson, Trace Thomson, Evelyn Gaines; and great grandchildren, Ellie Marker, Arleigh Marker, and Blake Marker.
Maloy was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Maloy's name for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
