Obituary

MABEL E. HODGSON, 88, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Winfield Resthaven

Born on July 27, 1926 in Amorita, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Leonard and Marthenia (Foglesong) Flowers. She was raised and received her education in Amorita and graduated from Amorita High School in 1944.

She was united in marriage to James A. "Jim" Hodgson on March 18, 1945 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. The couple moved to a farm north of Wilmot, Kansas in 1949. In the 1950's they moved to a farm at the intersection of US 77 and K15. In 1967, the couple moved to a farm south of Rock where they farmed and ran livestock until 1991, when they retired and moved to Winfield. The couple enjoyed camping and going on bus trips. Jim preceded her in death on August 26, 2013.

Mabel was a member of the Rock Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Cowley County Cowbells and a 4-H Leader for both the Akron and Udall 4-H Clubs. She enjoyed her vegetable and flowers gardens. Her home canned green beans and lime pickles were some of her grandchildren's favorites.

Her family includes:
Her son: Joe Hodgson and Agi Crawford of Albuquerque, NM;
Her daughter: Teresa Bradbury and husband Russell of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Clint Bradbury, Candace Evers and husband Joshua, and Louie Golden;
Her great-grandchildren: Micah Evers and Braxton Bradbury;
Her sisters: Imogene Smith of Byron, OK; and Roberts Starks of Amorita, OK; and
Her nieces and nephews; and
Her special friend: Marsha Edmonson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; her infant brother Winford and brother Wilbur Flowers, her sisters: Leota Clover and granddaughter-in-law, Katie Bradbury.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Rock Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Stalter Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.

Memorials have been established in Mabel's name for the Rock Methodist Church and the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
