Lynda L. Bursack, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, February 16, 2021 at William Newton Hospital.
Born November 12, 1943 in Douglas, Georgia, she was the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Johnson) Wood. She was raised and received her education in Douglas, graduating from Coffee County High School in 1964. She was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church while in Douglas.
Lynda was united in marriage to Jack Bursack on December 27, 1963 in Buford, South Carolina. In 1965, the couple moved to Wellington, Kansas, where they lived until purchasing and moving to their farm west of Winfield in 1980. They remained on the family farm the rest of Lynda's life. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning tomatoes. She also oversaw Mt. Vernon Cemetery and Mt. Zion Cemetery in the 1980's. In the early 2000's, Lynda attended Cowley County Community College, receiving her associate degree in business in 2003.
Lynda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oxford, Kansas. She enjoyed music, genealogy, and watching Days of Our Lives. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Her family includes her husband Jack Bursack of Winfield; her children, Haley Bursack of Winfield; David "Mike" Bursack and wife, Christy of Winfield; her siblings, Mary Lowe and husband, Larry of Toledo, OH; Darryl Wood and wife, Dee of Valdosta, GA; Rick Wood of Douglas, GA; her grandchildren, Kristen Irvin and husband, Jason; Amy Love; Mark Specht; Matthew Specht; Brittany Bursack; Katie Bursack; Aaliyah Owens-Fox; Wyoming Conley; and her great grandchildren, Sharee, Charlie, Lillith, Lexi, Chloe, and Miles.
In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by a brother Lynford Wood, and three sisters, Jackie Baker, Montine Knowles, and Yvonne Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Oxford on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery northwest of Winfield. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Lynda's name for the Oxford Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
