Lynda J. Brazil, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her home.
Born August 9, 1943 in Red Wing, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Lyman and Gladys (Severson) Lane. She was raised in Anthony, Kansas, graduating from Anthony High School in 1961. She then attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She double majored in English and Art and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She also earned certification to teach Jr. High students.
Lynda was united in marriage to Bill Brazil on August 26, 1964 in Anthony, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Winfield while they finished their studies at Southwestern College. In 1965 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri for Bill to attend Saint Paul School of Theology. While in Kansas City, Lynda worked as a copy artist for Hallmark Cards. Bill and Lynda's ministry for the United Methodist Church included service in: Morland, Liberal, Atwood, Salina, Larned, Beloit, and Belleville. Lynda served in numerous capacities with the church including Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Youth Camp Dean and Conference Council on Youth Ministries Leader. After retiring the couple moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 2007. In 2013 they returned to Winfield.
She was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church and Conference Mates in Ministry. She enjoyed the arts, singing, camping, and canoe trips.

Her sisters: Jeannie Hendrix and husband, Walker of Lawrence; Mary Cole and husband, Gary of Ottawa; and
Her sister-in-law: Judy Clawson of Blue Springs, MO.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Tisdale United Methodist Church east of Winfield. Inurnment will follow at Tisdale Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Lynda's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church Building Fund, United Methodist Church Youth Camps Horizon and Lakeside, and for the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
