Obituary

LUCILE "RUTH" LITTELL, 91, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, November 22, 2013 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.

Born April 8, 1922 in Burden, Kansas, she was the only child of Lilburn Earl and Anna Carol (Osborn) Dyer. She was raised and received her education in Burden, graduating Burden High School in 1940.

Ruth was united in marriage to Kenneth "Gene" Littell on April 28, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Wichita, Kansas. They later moved to Burden. Ruth went back to school in the late 60's and graduated Southwestern College in 1970. She taught in Central schools until her retirement in 1987. The couple moved to Winfield in 2008. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 26, 2012.

Ruth was a member of the Burden Baptist Church. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and reading.

Her family includes:
Her daughter: Eadie McLain and husband, Bob of Arkansas City;
Her son: James Littell and wife, Barb of Stillwater, OK;
Her grandchildren: Kenny and Kasey McLain, Jerame, Jon and Jaci Littell, Liz McLain, and Andi Ahlerich and husband, Nick;
Her great grandson: Lucas Ahlerich;
Her special friends: Joe and Sam Tovar, Jeremy Walker, George Lowe, Perry Bruner, Lois Linnebur and Keitha Adams; and
Numerous cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 27 from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 6 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Ruth's name for the Kansas Veterans Home and for Twin Rivers Emergency Medical Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
