Obituary

LUCAS D. WEAVER, 27, of Cedar Vale, Kansas, formerly of Canadian, Texas, passed away Monday morning, August 11, 2014 in Hennessey, Oklahoma.

Born February 4, 1987 in Cedar Vale, Kansas, he was the son of Robert Dean and Penny Sue (Fulsom) Weaver. Luke attended grade school in Cedar Vale, and Liberal. He moved to Canadian, Texas his junior year and graduated from Canadian High School in 2006. While in high school, he was on the track team and was a stand out on the football team. He ran on the 1600 meter relay at the State High School Track Meet. During his senior year, he was elected to the Golden Spread Team as a Defensive End. He was also selected to play in the K101 Bowl Game in Woodward, Oklahoma, where he received honors of the Defensive Player of the Year.

After school, Luke began working for Blueridge Oilfield and later became a roughneck. While working in the oilfield, he lived in many different areas of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. In 2012, he began working construction for Fulsom Brothers in Cedar Vale. He later returned to the oil fields where he was currently working.

Luke was baptized at the Grenola Christian Church in October of 2002. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved rodeoing, especially bull riding. The highlight of his life was his son Landyn.

His sisters: Lacey Bickel and husband, Hugh of Broken Arrow, OK; Alicia Woods and husband, J.C. of Ralston, OK; Taylor Weaver of Cedar Vale, KS:
His brothers: Gary Denney and wife, Dawn of Canadian, TX; Dylan Weaver of Canadian, TX;
His maternal grandmother: Frankie Fulsom of Cedar Vale, KS;
His paternal grandparents: Bill and Pauline Weaver of Webb City, OK; and
His numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Luke was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Fulsom, his aunt, Carla Fulsom, his uncle, Boyd Weaver, and two cousins, Rachel Fulsom and Bucky Weaver.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale. Interment will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

An educational fund has been established in Luke's name for his son, Landyn. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
