LuAnn Chapman, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday evening, July 8, 2022, at Winfield Senior Living Community.
Born September 14, 1947, in Wellington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Louis and Opal (Guyer) Marousek. She was raised and received her education in Wellington, graduating from Wellington High School in 1965. After high school LuAnn went to work for the City of Wellington.
She was united in marriage to David Chapman on April 3, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. Shortly after marriage David was sent to Vietnam while LuAnn remained at home in Wellington. In 1967 the couple moved to Long Beach, California, where LuAnn worked as the Office Manager for Signal Oil Company until returning to Wellington in 1969. In 1977 the family moved to Winfield with David's work. LuAnn enjoyed staying home and raising their sons for many years. In 1985 she began her career with Schwan's Home Services, where she remained for over 20 years retiring as Office Manager in 2005.
LuAnn was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. She was an avid bridge player, and also enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping, and being outdoors.
Her family includes her husband David Chapman of Winfield; her sons, Christopher Chapman and wife, Jen of Steamboat Springs, CO; Matthew Chapman and wife, Rebecca of Winfield; her sister Marilynn Heffron and husband, Gene of Wichita; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie Chapman, Abby Chapman, Van Chapman, Peyton Cravens, and London Leaming.
LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will hold memorial services at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in LuAnn's name for the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
