Obituary

LOWELL ERNEST SHRUBSHALL, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at William Newton Hospital.

Born August 27, 1927 in Lamont, Oklahoma, he was the son of Ernie and Hazel (Black) Shrubshall. He was raised on the family farm in Lamont and received his education from Lamont schools.

Lowell was united in marriage to Barbara Darnell on February 11, 1961 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. He worked as a truck driver as well as in the oil fields as a well pumper. Lowell later worked at Binney & Smith Crayola Company as a mechanic. He retired from Binney & Smith at the age of 62.

Mr. Shrubshall attended the Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, quail and pheasant hunting and camping. He especially enjoyed working in his garage and on old cars. He rebuilt a Model T of his own.

His wife: Barbara Shrubshall of Winfield;
His children: Mike Darnell and wife, Bridget of Newkirk, OK; John Darnell and fiance, Sharon Hannah of Winfield; Ernest Lee, Kathy, Cheryl and Charles Shrubshall;
His brother: Duane Shrubshall of Wichita;
His sister: Norma Ann Fitts and husband, Don of Pond Creek, OK;
His grandchildren: Shawn Darnell, Michelle Pool and husband, Brian, Aurora Darnell, Caylee Darnell, Caterina Darnell, Christian Darnell, Joshua Scott and Joni Darnell; and
His great grandchildren: Emily Darnell, Nathaniel Darnell, Jesse Pool, Kolby Bosley, Keaton Bosley, Leland Bosley, and Skielee Williamson.

In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his great grandchildren, Garrett Darnell and Lela Bosley.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Lowell's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
