Obituary

Minta Louise Logsdon, 92, Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Medicalodge in Oxford, Kansas.

Louise was born, December 4, 1927, Moline, Kansas, at the Shaffer Hospital to Jesse and Binnie (Green) Wells. She was raised in Sedan, Kansas and Spring Creek community. She attended school at Magga Kilmer Elementary School in Sedan and Spring Creek School in Chautauqua County and graduated from Sedan High School in the class of 1945.

Louise married John Alvin Logsdon on March 23, 1946 at the First Christian Church, Sedan, Kansas. They were married until John's death on April 24, 2005 for 59 years.

Louise employment was with Kansas Farm Bureau, Sedan and the Walnut Valley Association, retiring in 1992 after 20 years. She held many positions with the WVA including Editor of the "Walnut Valley Occasional" along with inviting the performers and organizing the many contests that are held each year.

Louise was active with her husband, John, in the Cherokee Strip Antique Car Club and the local chapter of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers. Louise enjoyed family reunions, and attending live music performances. She was an exceptional seamstress and made many of the clothes for her daughters. She was the best cook and everyone loved her chicken & noodles and walnut valley beans. She made the best German chocolate cake from scratch and one could not stop eating her refrigerator cookies.

Louise is survived by her daughters Judy and her husband Ron Irvin; Linda and Grady Boulier of Derby, Kansas; two grandchildren, Steve Irvin and his wife Melinda of Winfield and Charity (Boulier) Sanders and her husband Jim of Derby, Kansas; four great grandchildren, Jonathan Irvin of Winfield, Katie Irvin of Topeka, Kansas and Kaitlyn and Karissa Sanders of Derby, Kansas. and many beloved cousins and very special nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends with the Walnut Valley Association as well as the Cherokee Strip Antique Car Club and the Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers James and Ivan Wells and her sister Opal (Wells) Littlepage,

A special thank you to all the employees at Riverview Manor and later Medicalodge in Oxford, Kansas, who saw to her well-being.

Funeral services will be held at Miles Funeral Services, 4001, East 9th Ave, Winfield Kansas on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family will greet visitors from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The pandemic has created many hardships for family and friends and made attending funerals and other family gatherings difficult. Even though we might not all be together at this time, there are many happy memories of family reunions and milestone birthday celebrations that we cherish. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available and social distancing practices will be followed.
