LOUISE E. AVERY, 83, of Winfield, passed away early Sunday morning, August 24, 2008 at her sister's home in Wichita.
Born on March 12, 1925, eleven miles southeast of Winfield on the family ranch, she was the daughter of Willis and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Bonewell) Andes. She was raised in the Winfield area, attending Rose Valley School and graduating from Winfield High School.
She was united in marriage to Benjamin Avery in January of 1942 in Winfield. Mr. Avery went into the military service after marriage and Louise stayed in Winfield with her parents. Benjamin was killed in the service in WWII in July of 1943.
Louise worked at Boeing doing data entry and later became a Real Estate Broker. She then opened a bait store at Wilmot with a close friend. She retired to the farm in Winfield, where she had been for over 30 years.
Mrs. Avery was a member of the Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the Elks. She enjoyed history, playing cards

Her son: Ivan "Bud" Avery of Oklahoma;
Her sister: Virginia Lauppe and husband, Ron of Wichita;
Her 9 grandchildren: Ben Avery, Linda Avery, Kevin Avery, Diana Avery, Kaye Turner, David Crawford, Matthew Avery, Naoma Kilgore, and Cherl Avery; and
Her 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by four brothers, Chet, Ralph, Raymond, and Ivan Andes, and a sister, Francis Hadley.
Cremation has been effected. Memorial services will be held on Saturday morning, August 30, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service.
