Obituary

Loretta Mae Weigle, 75, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, June 05, 2011 at the Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City.

Born April 09, 1936 in Cleveland, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Everett and Lula Mae (Bailey) Littlepage. She was raised and received her education in rural Sedan, Kansas, graduating from Sedan High School in 1954. After graduation she went to work for the Coffeyville Journal in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Loretta married Donald Newland on October 1, 1955, in Winfield. The couple made their first home in Oxford, Kansas where Loretta stayed at home to begin raising the family's three children. In 1961 the family moved to Colorado for Donald's work. The couple later divorced.

In 1973 Loretta and her children returned to the Winfield area to be closer to family. She then went to work for Binney and Smith and later Rubbermaid.

Loretta was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Weigle on May 15, 1982 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home on the family farm in rural Burden, Kansas. Loretta helped with the family farm for many years before becoming a care giver. She worked as a care giver for many years in the Winfield area.

She was a member of the Burden United Methodist Church in Burden. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, cooking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her family includes:
Her husband: Jerry of the home;
Her daughters: Kathy Meier of Littleton, CO; Karen Deakins and husband, Jim of Newkirk, OK;
Her son: Greg Newland and wife, Julie of Littleton, CO;
Her stepchildren: Tracey; Terry; Georgana; Eddie;
Her 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; and
Her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her 9 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 09, 2011, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors at this time.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Weigle's name for the Burden United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
