Obituary

LlOYD "ELI" STOUT, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Monday morning, July 14, 2008 at Good Samaritan Village.

Born March 9, 1929, in Burden, KS, he was the son of George and Ruby (Crow) Stout. He was raised and educated in the Burden area on Timber Creek. After school Eli enlisted in The United States Marine Corp where he proudly served his country.

Eli was united in marriage to Celia Yianakopulos on September 23, 1950 in Winfield. The couple made their first home in Douglass, Kansas and in 1955 moved to Atlanta where he worked as a roustabout in the oil fields. In 1987, the couple moved to Winfield. Celia preceded him in death in 2005.

He was a member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and cooking.

His family includes:
His son: Rick E. Stout and wife, Barb of Eureka, KS;
His daughter: Tressa Sherman of Winfield;
His sisters: Iola Dawson of Alabama; and Viola Hargis and husband, Tom of Preston, KS;
His grandson: Travis Stout and wife, Ashley of Leon, KS;
His great-granddaughter: Madeline Stout.

In addition to his parents and wife, Eli was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Sherman and six brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Tisdale United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5. The family will greet visitors from 1 to 3 that afternoon.

A Memorial has been established in Mr. Stout's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
