LINDA SUE CHAVEZ, 61, of Winfield, Kansas, formerly of Bixby, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord, Saturday afternoon, November 1, 2008 at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City, Kansas. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Born on September 4, 1947 in Byron, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Orval and Maxine (Branson) Henderson. She received her education in Winfield, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Ben Chavez. The couple later divorced. Linda was employed at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for a short time in housekeeping. She later moved to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, and was employed at the high school and Cottonwood Falls Nursing Home as a janitor. Linda moved to Wichita, Kansas and later made her home in Bixby, Oklahoma. She moved to Winfield recently to be closer to family.
She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Wichita. Linda loved all kinds of music, especially singing. She also enjoyed crocheting.

Her daughters: Cathy Carillo and Tammy Mansell and husband Dwayne both of Wichita, KS;
Her brothers: Orval "Bud" Henderson of Cambridge, KS;
Her sisters: Dorothy Still of Glenpool, OK; Lola Mount and husband Keith of Sedan, KS; and Eva Jo Hankins and husband Bones of New Salem, KS; and Orvilla Kay Hull and husband Don of Stillman Valley, ILL;
Her 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Swantes and her sister, Waneta Ward.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
