Obituary

Lexy Leigh Spencer, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kansas.

Born January 18, 1940, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of George and Katherine (Webster) Wolffrum. She was raised on a farm in Ashton, Kansas and received her education in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1958. She then attended and received her Associates Degree from Cowley County Community College.

Lexy was united in marriage to Bill Spencer on October 19, 1974 at the Free Methodist Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where she went to work for the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. She remained there until its closing in 1998. She then went to work for the Arkansas City Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Kansas. She enjoyed music, reading, and going to church.

Her son: Gregory Spencer of Winfield;
Her sister: Lois Frank of Wellington;
Her sister-in-law: Phyllis Robinson and friend, Kenneth Lemon of Winfield;
Her brothers-in-law: Harold Spencer and wife, Judy of Wellington; Kenneth Spencer and wife, Patrice of Texas; and
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lexy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Deborah Sue Peak.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Arkansas City. Friend may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 14, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 6 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Lexy's name for Riverview Manor and for the First Baptist Church in Oxford. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
