Obituary

LETHA K. TRIBBEY, 91, former Winfield resident, passed away Sunday morning, May 4, 2008 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas.

Born on September 7, 1916 on a farm east of Winfield, she was the daughter of William L. and Ola (Ott) Yadon. She attended rural grade school and later graduated from Winfield High School in 1934.

She was united in marriage on September 8, 1935 to L. Merle Tribbey at her parents home. The couple made their first home in the Winfield area. They then moved to the Kellogg community where they resided for 35 years. The couple owned and operated a floor sanding and refinishing business in Winfield for 22 years. Letha was also employed for USD 465 where she worked at the South Vernon School spending 12 years as a custodian and 7 years in food service. The couple moved to Winfield in 1972. Mr. Tribbey preceded her in death on December 5, 1987.

Letha was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Winfield where she taught third grade Sunday school for 30 years and helped with ladies activities. She had been an active member of the Rosetti Circle since 1947 and a charter member of the Merry Makers Club, serving as their first president. She enjoyed visiting with friends and needlework.

Her family includes:
Her brother: Art Yadon of Sedan, KS;
Her nephews 2 and 2 step-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law Betty Yadon.

Graveside Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 7 at 10:30 A.M. at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday May 6.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Letha's name for the Winfield Rest Haven and the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
