LESTER GENE LEVER, 82, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born September 25, 1931 in Neodesha, Kansas, he was the son of Leonard and Mable (Steele) Lever. He was raised and received his education in Neodesha, graduating Neodesha High School in 1949.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Louise Vantrease on October 10, 1949 in Arkansas. The couple made their first home in Neodesha. They moved around while Lester worked in the field of agriculture until settling in Wichita in 1956. There he began working as an insurance agent and remained in Wichita until retiring and moving to Udall.

He was a member of the Udall Nazarene Church and enjoyed volunteering with the Gideon's in the distribution of Bibles. He also enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar and singing in nursing homes.

His family includes:
His wife: Patricia Lever of the home;
His children: Larry Lever and wife, Tammie of Chanute; Thomas Lever of Wichita; Alesha Haaga and husband, Scott of Douglass; Reverend Sam Lever and wife Maxa of Udall;
His brother: William Lever of Kansas City; and
His 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Lester was preceded in death by, a brother, Calvin Lever, a sister, Helen Brinkman, a son, Gary Lever, a grandchild, Laura Ann Lever, and a great grandchild Ragan Cochran.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Udall Nazarene Church. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Lester's name for the Udall Nazarene Church Compassionate Ministry Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
