LESLIE MURRAY, 96, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, April 13, 2012 at Winfield Rest Haven in Winfield, Kansas.
Born March 7, 1916 in Adams County, Wisconsin, he was the son of Earl and Iva (Sawyer) Murray. He was raised in Adams County and attended high school in Friendship, Wisconsin. Leslie drove a truck, farmed and was a mail carrier during his time in Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage to Ethel Chilson on August 21, 1936. The couple moved to Wichita where Leslie worked for the city of Wichita in the maintenance department for 25 years. He retired from the city on May 28, 1977. The couple moved to Monnevilla, Missouri. Ethel preceded him in death in 1983.
Leslie moved to Saracoxie, Missouri in 1985, when he was united in marriage to Myrtle Hill on January 9. The couple lived on a farm in Saracoxie and later moved to live on a lake in Fairland, Oklahoma. The divorced in 2010 and Leslie moved to Winfield in January of 2011.
Leslie enjoyed fishing and woodworking and working puzzles. He also loved to help people.

His daughter: Arleen Lauffer and husband, Fred of Winfield;
His 3 sisters: Leona, Opal and Vivian;
His 2 brothers: Donnie and Arliegh;
His 15 grandchildren: Diane Brady, Michael Murray, David Murray, Dennis Murray, Jeff Murray, Timmy Murray, James Wilson, Michelle Stinson, Chris Wilson, Danielle Wilson, Shaunery Wharton, Debbie Shumard, Dwayne Murray and Scott Murray;
His 27 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ethel, six siblings, two grandchildren, Daniel and Aaron Murray and one great granddaughter, Amber Shumard.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E 9th Ave, Winfield, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held in Spring Valley, Wisconsin at Keehr Funeral Home on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery northwest of Durand, Wisconsin.
