Obituary

LESLIE E. "LES" TROBAUGH, 79, lifelong Dexter resident, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 14, 2013 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.

Born January 6, 1934 on the family farm northeast of Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of Herbert C. and Bernice (Williams) Trobaugh. Les attended Plum Creek School for five years and then went to Dexter schools and graduated Dexter High School in 1952.

Les was united in marriage to Carol Sumner on December 29, 1956 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Dexter. Mr. Trobaugh was inducted in the United States Army on September 20, 1956. He served until his honorable discharge on September 8, 1958. He drove a truck from 1952 to 1953. He then went to work in the construction industry and continued working in construction until 1996 when he retired. After retirement, Les opened a tire repair shop in Dexter. Mrs. Trobaugh preceded him in death on December 6, 2008.

Les was a member of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed fixing tires, country music and horses and cattle. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and visiting with his friends.

His family includes:
His children: Gary Trobaugh and wife, Belinda of Winfield; Leslie Trobaugh and wife, Janet of Winfield; Sherry Harcarik and husband, George of Columbiana, Ohio;
His brother: Kenneth Trobaugh and wife, Judith of Oklahoma;
His sisters: Ava Deets of Burden, KS; and Ethel Gates of Winfield;
His grandchildren: Charmaine, Joshua, Casey, Seth, Tyler and Jeremiah; and
His great grandchildren: Leslie Ann, Ty Alan, Brandon, Logan and Aia.

In addition to his parents and wife, Les was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Robert Henry and his sister, Dorothy.

Graveside Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dexter Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Les' name for the Dexter Lighthouse Library. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
