March 21, 1940 – August 7, 2019
Leota Faye Casebolt Evans, 79, of Mansfield, Georgia, formerly of Udall, Kansas, passed away on August 7, 2019 in Social Circle, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Evans, parents Wayne and Edna Casebolt, and brother, Max Casebolt. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carroll Allen and Lyle Allen of Mansfield, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Greg Evans and Betsy McCosh, of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Diana Sanchez, Redding, California; sister, Sharon Godfrey of Wichita, Kansas. She also loved and considered as family, Lyle's brother, Kyle and his wife Jalene Allen for the love, care and support they shared with her during her sickness, as well as her special friend, Susan McKenzie of Covington, Georgia.
Leota was a member of Mansfield United Methodist Church. She loved her pastor Rev. Todd Hilton and was very appreciative of his visits after her initial stroke in February of 2018 and episodes that followed. She was previously a member at Udall United Methodist Church in Udall Kansas and Monticello United Methodist Church in Monticello, Georgia. She was involved in her churches as a Sunday school teacher and a United Methodist Women's member and participated in various other church groups over the years. She was also a member of the Busy Bee Quilters of Monticello, Georgia, which is an extension of Project Linus. She's knitted many blankets over the years for Project Linus. She was an excellent knitter. She was very appreciative of the love and support she received from members of this group following her stroke and subsequent sicknesses as well.
She was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas and graduated from Winfield High School in 1958. She was a nursing graduate of William Newton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Winfield. She met and married Gary Evans in April 1960. The couple lived in Udall Kansas where they raised their family. She was also a school bus driver for Udall School District #463. Later, she was employed at Rubbermaid in Winfield. In 1998 she moved to Monticello, Georgia to live with her daughter, Carroll. She worked for several years at Harris Sample Book in Monticello.
The family would like to thank the employees of Abbey Hospice in Social Circle for their exceptional care, as well as Piedmont Atlanta ICU unit, Westbury Rehab and Care Center in Jackson, Georgia, and the Jasper County First Responders who came to her assistance on numerous occasions demonstrating love, compassion and exceptional care each time. Additionally, the family thanks the employees of the Bank of Monticello for the numerous cards they sent to her during her illnesses as well.
Those wishing to remember Leota may send donations to Mansfield United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 190, Mansfield, Georgia 30055 toward their Proverbs 3.24 Ministry, which makes new beds for children who have never had a bed. This was a ministry she supported. Additionally, donations may be made to Busy Bee Quilters, c/o Lillian Fowler, 2460 Dumas Road, Hillsboro, Georgia 31038 in Leota's memory.
Miles Funeral Services in Winfield, Kansas is in charge of funeral arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 12th at Friends Cemetery in Rose Hill, Kansas at 2 PM. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mansfield United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Georgia with the Rev. Todd Hilton officiating.
