Leona Faye Day, 92, of Little River, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, May 10, 2010 at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River.
Born March 25, 1918 in Collinsville, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Smith Simeon and Bessie Lee (Ward) Traw.
Leona was united in marriage to Edgar Dewey Pinegar on June 3, 1934 in Winfield. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1971. She then married Lawrence Gerold Day on October 15, 1972 and he preceded her in death in May of 1982. Leona was a licensed pilot and did a great deal of traveling. In earlier years she and her husband, Edgar, restored airplanes and customized several RV's. She spent her later years in Weslaco, Texas, before moving to Little River, Kansas.

Her sons: Darrell L. Pinegar of Little River; Donald Eugene Pinegar of Caney; Gale Eugene Pinegar of Lawrence;
Her daughter: Beverly Kaye Pinegar Day of Minneapolis, MN;
Her 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands Leona was preceded in death by her companion Charles Blodgett, her two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday May 14, 2010 at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge, Kansas. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Mrs. Day's name for the Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
