Lenvel W. Comstock, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Kansas Veterans Home.
Born October 6, 1933, in Coffeyville, Kansas, he was the son of Luther Willis and Anna E. (Hebblethwaite) Comstock. He was raised and received his education in Dearing, Kansas, graduating from Field Kinley High School in 1951. Lenvel married Carolyn K. Fisher in 1954. The couple had three children, Dolores Ann, Everett L., and Donna K., and divorced in 1959.
He entered the United States Army on October 29, 1953 and proudly served his country until he transferred to the Army Reserve on October 28, 1955. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri and was united in marriage to Florence M. Porter in 1960. The couple adopted a son Thomas Gene, and made their home in Kansas City where Lenvel worked for various tire shops including Rock Service Station, OK Tire, and Jack Swalls Tire Service. He later made his career with Good Year Tire, retiring after over 20 years of service. Florence preceded him in death in May 2011, and he moved to Winfield.
Lenvel enjoyed gambling and fishing. He especially loved dancing and singing.
His family includes his children, Ann Beougher and husband, Kenneth of Winfield; Everett L. Comstock and wife, Brenda of Winfield; Thomas G. Comstock of the Phillippines; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lenvel was preceded in death by a daughter Donna K. Warren, a grandson Everett L. Comstock, Jr., his brother Wendel W. Comstock, and his three sisters, Minnie Orender, Mary Douglas, and Wanda McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 12, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Lenvel's name for the American Diabetes Association and for the Chicago Lighthouse, a school for the visually impaired. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
