Lena V. Bruce, 93, of Winfield, departed this life on Feb. 28, 2009, to join the Lord in her heavenly resting place.

Lena was born February 15, 1916, in Cedar Country, Missouri, the fifth daughter of Omar and Mable (Pace) Huff. She attended the Baptist Church in Pacetown, Missouri, where she was saved and baptized at a young age.

On October 14, 1939, she married Orville Black in Missouri. They were blessed with five children, Joyce, Garry, Virginia, Sondra and Allen. In 1947, Orville passed away.

On May 25, 1950, Lena married Ray Bruce. They were blessed with one son, Ray Lee.

She leaves to mourn her passing:
Her daughter, Joyce Haines, and husband, Paul, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; son, Garry Black and wife, Virginia, Enid, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Bruce, Winfield; grandchildren, Teresa Kripp and family, Newtown, Penn., Jay Haines, Des Plaines, Ill., Terry Haines, Scottsdale, Ariz., Jason Bruce and family, Okmulgee, Okla., Jana Bruce and family, Wichita, Debbie Tran and family, Houston, Texas, Dianna Rojo, and family, Enid, Okla.; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her two husbands, Orville Black and Ray Bruce; two children, Sondra and Ray Lee, and four sisters, Ruby, Mamie, Evelyn and Lin.

Graveside Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday March 5, 2009 at Sandridge Cemetery, in Pacetown, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service with the family greeting from 5 to 7 P.M. that evening. Honorary pall bearers will be Paul Haines, Jay Haines, Terry Haines, Jason Bruce, Garry Black, and Phillip Hoffman.

Memorials are to Winfield Isle of Lights and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
