LELA MAE BRIGHT, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 15, 2011 at William Newton Hospital.
Born August 24, 1935 in rural Sedan, Kansas, she was the daughter of David Emerson and Meda May (Wells) Wolfe. Her family moved to Grenola in 1944. Lela attended Grenola schools and graduated from Grenola High School in 1954.
She was united in marriage to Wilbur S. Bright on June 26, 1955 on a family farm east of Grenola. Lela worked as a Police Meter Maid in McPherson. She later worked for Binney & Smith Crayola Company in Winfield for 20 years until they closed. She then went to work for Calmar, working on the machines until her retirement in 2008. Mr. Bright preceded her in death on September 20, 2007.
Lela was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. She enjoyed farming and tending her vegetable gardens. She was an extremely generous woman.

Her mother: Meda May Wolfe of Winfield;
Her brothers: David Wolfe; Jesse Wolfe and wife, Peggy; and Bill Wolfe, all of Grenola;
Her sisters: Bertha Reeves of Grenola; and Freda Daehnke and husband, Sigurd of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Michelle and Kelli Olive and Stephanie Hoyer and husband John;
Her great-granddaughters: Madeline and Ansley Hoyer; and
Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father and husband, Lela was preceded in death by her daughter O'Mickia Wainwright in November of 2006, and her sisters, Bessie June Wolfe and Marilyn Lois Bell.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Lela's name for the Grenola Alumni Association and for the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
