Obituary

Lecil Kenneth Taylor, 81, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away early Monday morning, June 22, 2026, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Born July 13, 1944, in Cedar County, Missouri, he was the son of Lecil “Dill” and Amy Marguerite (Chappelear) Taylor. He was raised and received his early education in Stockton, Missouri, before moving with his family to Humansville, Missouri, while in high school. He graduated from Humansville High School in 1962.

He was united in marriage to Sharon Rains on March 12, 1965, in Humansville. The couple made their first home in Kansas City where Ken began working for Cook Paint and Varnish. In 1981, the couple moved to Winfield, Kansas for Ken to take a job in management at Binney & Smith. They remained in Winfield until the plant closed in 1997 at which time they transferred to the Nazareth, Pennsylvania plant. He remained in management with Binney & Smith until his retirement in 2002.

After retirement, Ken and Sharon moved to Arkansas City to be near family. In retirement, Ken’s longtime hobby of buying, selling, and trading antiques became his passion. He traveled to many different auctions and flea markets around the country, not only antiquing, but acquiring many lifelong friends. He was a member of the Lion’s Club.

His family includes his wife Sharon Taylor of Arkansas City; his children, Michael L. Taylor and wife, Tara of Arkansas City; Kendra Porter and husband, Ken of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Dill and Amy Taylor, and his brother Jim Taylor.

A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4 to 6 PM. The family will greet visitors during this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in Bolivar, Missouri at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Ken’s name for Habitat for Humanity. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
