LEATHA ANN RUSSELL, 62, of Arkansas City, passed away Sunday evening, July 25, 2010 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at St. Francis in Wichita.

Born October 22, 1947 in El Reno, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Ray and Dorothy (Jones) Thein. She was raised for a short time in El Reno, and later raised and educated in Belle Plaine, Kansas, graduating from Belle Plaine High School.

Leatha was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Russell on September 24, 1965 in Belle Plaine, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Arkansas City. Leatha worked at Plessy and Cessna Aircraft as a parts inspector, but most recently worked at Dexter Care Center as a nurse's aide and a cook. She enjoyed reading, taking walks, taking care of plants and cooking.

Her son: Troy Russell and wife, Sherri of Erie, Kansas;
Her daughter: Michelle Russell of Winfield, Kansas;
Her sister: Loretta Huff and husband, Clint of Renton, Washington; and
Her grandchildren: Seth and Allison Russell and Aaron and Tristan Phouthavong.
Leatha was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Claude, Felix and Michael Thein, her sister, Linda Smith, and her granddaughter, Sadie Ann Russell.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday afternoon, July 31, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Russell's name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
