LARRY ROBERT "RED" DEETS, 69, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2013 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice/St. Francis in Wichita.
Born on November 17, 1943 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of Ray & Pearl Deets. Siblings were Donald, who drowned when a small child, Vernon and his wife Ava Deets of Burden, Kansas, Doris Taylor, and twins Donna Waymire and Darlene Meece. The Deets children all attended the Dexter school. Doris and Larry attended Cowley County Community College. His father, Ray Deets was on the school board for over 20 years at Dexter and handed all of his children their eighth grade and high school diplomas.
Larry lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and for many years was a swimming pool technician and a certified plumber until retiring and moving back to Burden ten years ago with his wife Jackie where he was warmly welcomed by his family and friends. He served on the Burden City Council and was a proud community member taking special pride in the rodeo and fairgrounds outside of town. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when and where needed. As a husband, father, uncle, brother and brother in law, Larry was the most loving, caring, generous, patient, kind hearted man anyone could know.

His children: Robert Deets of New York; Vickie Glass and Geneva Land both of Wichita, KS; Sherry Fleming of Andover, KS; Kathie Irons of Oregon; Rick, Ron and Deborah Arthur of Las Vegas. NV;
His sister: Doris Taylor; and
His 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was much loved by his nephew and niece Dale and Heather Deets of Burden, KS; and was especially close to Jeremy and Michele Brozek of Burden and considered them part of the family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Drake; his brothers, Donald and Vernon Deets; and his sisters, Donna Waymire and Darlene Meece.
To honor Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
A memorial has been established in Larry's name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
