Larry W. Kilts, 81, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, July 26, 2020 at Medicalodges in Oxford.
Born September 22, 1938 in his family home in Udall, he was the son of Ownus Jesse and Mary Lou (Eudaly) Kilts. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, Kansas, graduating from Winfield High School in 1957.
Larry was united in marriage to Glenda Lynn Moss on June 21, 1959 in Udall. The couple made their first home in Winfield, before moving to California for a couple of years. They then returned to Udall where they raised their 5 children, and Larry worked for Cessna in Wichita. The couple later divorced. In 1980 he was married to Wendy Rutter; they made their home in Udall and later divorced. Larry was united in marriage to Kay Brinkman in 1991. The couple lived in Wichita their entire married life. Kay preceded him in death.
Larry spent most of his life working as a metal fabricator and welder. He started his career with Ross Industries in 1969 and remained with the company as they became Cargill. In 2000, he retired as a welder from Cargill after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed going Jeeping, racing Mustangs, and metal fabricating. He also enjoyed being outdoors in nature, gardening, and caring for animals.
His family includes his children, Laurie Bonnell and husband, Kenneth of Udall; Maralee Kilts of Udall; Torry Kilts and wife, Lisa of Oxford; Kris Kilts and wife, Tammy of Winfield; Julie Evans and husband, Robert of Udall; his brothers Joe Kilts and wife, Audrey of Florida; Marty Pierce of Wichita; his stepbrothers, Duane Stewart and wife, Asonjia of Udall; David Stewart and wife, Charlotte of Wichita; his 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
In addition to his parents and wife, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Gary Kilts, and a stepbrother, Darrell Stewart.
A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
