LARRY W. HOPPER, 58, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, November 3, 2009 at his home.
Born March 24, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma, he was the son of Thurman L. and Donnie "Sue" (Davidson) Hopper. He was raised and educated in Texas and attended Blinn College.
Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 2, 1975. He received his basic training at Lockland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Michigan. He was discharged as a Sergeant on May 30, 1978/ Larry worked for various companies in the computer software and technology departments until his health would no longer allow him to work.
He enjoyed attending the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, and working with computers. He especially loved all aspects of country music: singing, playing and composing. He played country music with the Wagon Wheel Band.
Larry is survived by:
His mother: Donnie "Sue" Hopper of Winfield;
His brother: Alan Hopper of Winfield;
His sisters: Sheila Scott of Winfield; and Sherri Hasbrouck, currently residing in the Netherlands, Antilles;
His nephew and nieces: Darrell Ozbun, Sharla Arndt, and Danielle Hopper;
His great nephew and niece: Caleb Goosey and Elizabeth Arndt; and
Numerous cousins, and aunts and uncles.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Hopper on October 31, 2009.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grenola Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.
A Memorial has been established in Larry's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
