Obituary

Larry Everett Gann, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2024.

Larry was born on November 26, 1945, in Winfield. He was the son of Everett Newton and Aletha Leah (Nixon) Gann. Larry graduated from Winfield High School in 1964. His postsecondary education included Cowley County Community College, Wichita State University, and Southwestern College. Larry joined the Air National Guard in 1966. He was deployed to Kunsan Air Base in South Korea from 1968-1969. Larry continued to serve in the Air National Guard, from which he retired after 22 years. He also retired from the Department of Defense after 32 years of service. Post retirement, Larry worked as an independent contractor for several aerospace and defense companies.

Larry was united in marriage to Linda May on February 24, 1968, at the Free Methodist Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where they raised their three children. In Larry's free time, his hobbies included golfing, fishing, trap shooting and hunting, and in recent years, watching the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids doing activities such as fishing, going on walks, telling jokes, driving them around in his golf cart, and vacationing with the family. Larry was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship.

His family includes his wife Linda Gann of Winfield; his children, Jeffrey Gann and wife, Mary of Winfield; Ashley Scherzer and husband, Nick of Shawnee, KS; Jeremy Gann and wife, Camille of Blue Springs, MO; his sisters, Sharon Ternes of Arkansas City; Marcia Pearsall and husband, Larry of Robinson, IL; his grandchildren, Madilyn, Colin, Beck, Spencer, Andrew, Elliot, Olivia, Matilda, and Abigail; and a great grandson, Princeton, and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Ternes.

Memorial services will be held at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Larry's name for Quilts of Valor – Winfield. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
